Our Aims & Scope
The world of Health Sciences is truly multidimensional and burgeoning with different perspectives and ideas. The Meducator aims to present such ideas in a way that will make you stop, think, and perhaps inspire you to pursue them in your own way.
The Meducator is McMaster University’s undergraduate Health Sciences Journal. It is a unique student publication in that it publishes pieces that critically address current issues with a high degree of scientific rigor, but are also accessible to a broad audience. We publish articles from a wide range of fields within the Health Sciences discipline. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Biochemistry and Biomedical Research
- Health Policy
- Global Health
- Population Health
- Clinical Research
- Health Ethics
Through biannual magazine publications, a regularly updated blog, and a Facebook and Twitter page, we aim to provide an opportunity for undergraduate students to publish their work, perspectives, and insight regarding contemporary topics in the Health Sciences and share this information with their peers. Our protocol also strives to maintain a high standard of academic integrity by having each article edited by a postgraduate in the relevant field, as well as by The Meducator student editorial board.
The Meducator began as a student-founded initiative that was established in April 2002 with the support of the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) Program. The Meducator is funded annually by the B.H.Sc. (Honours) Program. In addition, we have received sponsorship from the McMaster Students Union and McMaster Alumni Association.
Over the years, The Meducator‘s staff has contributed greatly to making The Meducator a vibrant and content-rich publication that features fascinating new topics and research every issue. We have been steadily increasing the repertoire of pieces we include to meet the interests of the McMaster community. Recently, The Meducator has also been expanding its reach to include a wide range of media, such as featuring vibrant and original artwork in our print issues, producing insightful video interviews with select authors of our newest issues, and developing a new blog to incorporate into our website.
The Meducator adopts an educational approach to our publication. Despite our efforts to ensure accuracy, we recognize that the publication may be subject to errors and omissions. In light of these potential errors and new developments in the field, we invite you to partake in feedback and constructive discussion of the content for the purpose of furthering your understanding of the topic – in the name of education and discovery.
We invite you to offer us your feedback by writing to firstname.lastname@example.org
